PhytoCare Vermont was a medical cannabis dispensary that opened in Bennington in April 2018 as the first medical marijuana dispensary to serve the underserved southwestern Vermont area. Founded by a board chaired by William Cats-Baril and directed by S.J. "Wilson" Decandio, the dispensary was part of an organization that also operated a laboratory in Waterbury for research and quality testing. In 2024, the Bennington location closed due to building use changes and industry consolidation.
To provide high-quality medical cannabis products focused on patient consultation and education. They emphasized helping patients determine the most effective products and delivery methods for their specific medical conditions through personalized consultations and care.
PhytoCare was strategically located at the intersection of Route 9 and Highway 7 for easy access, offered appointment-only consultations with detailed patient guidance, featured a curated menu with concentrates, edibles, and flower, and operated with Vermont's unique model where patients must designate one specific dispensary. They also conducted cannabis research and quality testing for other Vermont entities.
