About MedsCafe
Meds Cafe is a Michigan cannabis retailer whose roots go back to 2019. Its Lowell store opened in March 2020 as the first recreational cannabis shop in Kent County, and the company has since added stores in smaller towns across the northern Lower Peninsula and west Michigan, including Alpena, Gaylord and Manistee. Its chief executive, Joshua Covert, previously worked as a defense attorney for cannabis caregivers, and the company leans on that history in describing itself as community-first rather than corporate.
The signature feature is deli-style flower: buds are kept in jars at the counter so shoppers can look at and smell them before a budtender weighs out a purchase. Menus also cover pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles and drinks from Michigan growers and brands, and weekly specials differ from store to store. Stores sell to adults 21 and over with a valid government ID, which is checked at the door on every visit. Payment is cash or debit only, with an ATM on site, and every location has its own parking lot. Online ordering for pickup is available.
