What’s the status with medical marijuana in Florida?
A little over a year ago Floridians voted to legalize medical marijuana with a win of over 70 percent of the state. While it’s been a bit of a fight getting this amendment off the ground, and some county governments have been making changes to the law on their ends, there have been some positive results and patients have been getting issued their cards.

However, one of the biggest issues with this law passing is that some of the opposed lawmakers have made it that smoking is not allowed. While edibles and vapes are approved forms of legal medical marijuana consumption, smoking the actual marijuana plant has been banned. Some leading Florida lawyers and democrats are busy fighting this ban in hopes by January 2018 that ban will be lifted. The main reason for this fight is that is appears the smoking ban violates the patient’s constitutional rights.
When will the Florida medical marijuana smoking ban be lifted?
A bill was introduced by Senator Gary Farmer in early November to lift this ban. His reasoning is simply to give the voters what they voted for, which is having the access to medical marijuana, and being able to smoke it is a part of what they voted on.
As the law changes and the fight continues to allow patients to consume cannabis in any form, at the moment, there are still plenty of methods available to legal card holders.
