Looking for a job in the Florida Medical Marijuana Industry?

Want To Join The Booming Medical Marijuana Industry in Florida? You Need Some Training First.

The medical marijuana industry is on fire nowadays, and jobs are being added at a rapid pace daily thanks to the opening of new dispensaries throughout The Sunshine State. These jobs include salespeople to cultivation workers, edible chefs, to those with an advanced science degree in chemistry, pharmacology, and botany with the highest earners being process manager positions, who are in the six-figure category.

Even though these jobs are more available, they are also in high demand. Some dispensaries report getting around 200 applications per day, as the hourly rate for a “budtender” is usually between $14-16 dollars per hour. Because of the rise in interest in medical cannabis, more experienced candidates are getting the upper hand. And in order to gain that experience and extensive knowledge required to be a part of this industry, there are now training sessions. One of these educational outlets is through a company called HempStaff, which is Key Largo based and offers medical marijuana educational training sessions throughout the country. These courses teach potential employees the in’s and out’s of their states specific marijuana laws, the science behind medical cannabis production, and customer service. People learn about different strains, edibles, and oils.

HempStaff was founded by James and Rosie Yagielo who responded to states’ demand for more education behind the use of legal medical pot. In Florida, those who work in medical marijuana have to be over the age of 21 and have no prior arrests. At the moment, Florida doesn’t require that employees receive a certification, though most dispensaries are now requiring it. It gives an edge to those who are applying while also assuring that each patient will come in and receive answers to their medical questions regarding every product. Additionally, many of the dispensaries are paying for their employees to go through the training if they hadn’t already, and are paying for it. The most recent training for employees with February 10th in Orlando. HempStaff schedules several training sessions per year throughout Florida.
