Our story

Timber Cannabis Co. was founded in 2020 by Michigan natives Scott and Julie Moorehead, who set out to bring a fresh approach to cannabis retail in their home state. Starting as a self-funded venture headquartered in Troy, Timber quickly grew from a single location to 11 retail stores throughout Michigan, while building an impressive 80,000 square-foot cultivation and manufacturing facility in Kalamazoo. In March 2023, the company celebrated significant milestones including the grand opening of their Three Rivers location, where they donated $10,000 to local nonprofits—a testament to their community-first approach. In January 2024, Stash Ventures acquired Timber's retail operations in a strategic expansion move, while the original founders retained their cultivation and manufacturing operations. This transition preserved the Timber brand identity customers had come to trust.Under the Stash Ventures umbrella, Timber continued expanding and acquired the Cloud Cannabis retail chain, bringing the total store count to over 22 locations across Michigan. Throughout this growth, Timber has maintained its founding commitment to quality, education, and giving back to Michigan communities.

Mission

Timber Cannabis Co.'s mission centers on "living higher"—elevating the health and happiness of customers by providing a full range of cannabis products tailored to individual needs. Education stands at the core of their approach, working to de-stigmatize cannabis and make it accessible to Midwesterners, many of whom came of age during prohibition.Guided by Midwestern values and a deep commitment to giving back, Timber focuses on community engagement through philanthropic initiatives and intentional business practices. They've eliminated the barriers that traditionally keep people from accessing cannabis, creating comfortable spaces where customers can learn and explore without intimidation.Their parent company, Stash Ventures, upholds the mission "to grow, make, and sell trusted, reliable, consistent products with passion and integrity," while maintaining a professional environment that prioritizes quality, education, and approachability for every customer who walks through their doors.

Why we love this brand

Timber Cannabis Co. earns our respect for genuinely understanding Michigan cannabis consumers. Their effects-based organization system is brilliant—instead of overwhelming customers with strain names and genetics, they simply ask "how do you want to feel?" This approach makes cannabis accessible to everyone, which is exactly what deal-seekers need when exploring products. The rewards program is exceptional, offering real savings up to $1,200 annually plus double points on Wednesdays. Combined with birthday deals and discounts for seniors, veterans, and tribal members, Timber demonstrates they value customer loyalty beyond lip service.Being vertically integrated means quality control from seed to sale, and their High Minded house brand consistently delivers premium flower and concentrates at competitive prices. Their community giving—like the $10,000 donated to Three Rivers nonprofits—shows they're invested in Michigan beyond profits. For deal-conscious consumers who refuse to compromise on quality, Timber hits the sweet spot.
