Our story

The Happy Confection was founded in 2018 by husband-wife duo Lindsay Roth and Steven Sechoka, two New England natives who turned their personal cannabis journey into a mission to serve the modern cannabis consumer. After six years of trying to launch in Massachusetts, they successfully brought their vision to life in Connecticut's emerging cannabis market.Steven, a classically trained pastry chef from the Culinary Institute of America and Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship alumnus, began crafting cannabis-infused treats for Lindsay when they first met in 2017. Lindsay, a medical cannabis patient since 2017 with 15+ years in marketing, recognized the need for more inclusive edibles options. Now serving as operational lead at Connecticut Contract Manufacturing, Steven ensures top-quality production not only for The Happy Confection but also for renowned brands like Wana, Kiva, and Lighthouse. The company has raised $150K in funding and represents a unique combination of culinary expertise and authentic patient experience, making them a standout in Connecticut's competitive cannabis landscape.

Mission

The Happy Confection's core mission is to empower the modern cannabis consumer with out-of-the-box blends, unique doses, and bold flavors that transform life's little moments into big reasons to smile. The company focuses on dietary inclusivity and dosage control, creating cannabis-infused confectionery items tailored for consumers with restricted diets. As medical patients themselves, they're committed to serving both the medical and recreational communities with products that provide options to enhance a variety of desired effects. Built on small business values, they prioritize sourcing materials locally and supporting other independent, family-owned businesses while maintaining their steadfast commitment to give back to the communities they serve. Their mission extends to challenging cannabis stigma and promoting the plant's role in improving mental health and overall wellness.

Why we love this brand

The innovative use of multiple cannabinoids like CBG, CBT, and live resin terpenes demonstrates their dedication to creating sophisticated, targeted effects rather than generic THC products. We love that they offer both microdose recreational options (2.5mg) and higher-dose medical servings (25mg), making their products accessible to new users while serving experienced patients.
