Our story

The Green Paradise was founded in 2022 by husband-and-wife team Brandon and Evelyn Brinson as part of Los Angeles' Social Equity Program. The Black-owned dispensary opened through the city's program designed to provide opportunities for communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition. Located at 1119 S La Brea Ave in Mid-City Los Angeles, The Green Paradise took over a beautiful white building with their logo sitting prominently next to a mural of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi. The dispensary celebrated significant milestones including their first anniversary featuring hip-hop artist Soulja Boy, and their two-year anniversary in January 2024 with a community gathering featuring elite brands like STIIIZY, Kushy Punch, and The Marathon Collective. The Brinsons built their brand around the concept of resilience, with Evelyn noting how palm trees - their symbolic inspiration - "build and do not break" and "withstand storms." The entire block where Green Paradise operated became a hub of Black-owned businesses, creating what they called "a staple of Black excellence."

Mission

The Green Paradise's mission was to provide a safe legal venue for their community, taking pride in being an innovative and equitable cannabis company in Los Angeles. They were dedicated to educating people about the healing power of the cannabis plant in a welcoming environment with convenient and affordable access to high-quality cannabis. The Brinsons built their business on principles of community empowerment and social justice. Their vision centered on how "the plant brings the community together" and supporting customers who became "the muscle behind everything that we do." As part of a block of entirely Black-owned businesses, they aimed to create "a staple of Black excellence" while advocating for genuine social equity in the cannabis industry. Their commitment extended beyond retail to community building, hosting events that celebrated both cannabis culture and hip-hop, creating spaces where different communities could come together safely and legally.
