Capitol Wellness Solutions in Louisiana

Capitol Wellness Solutions, which also uses the name Capitol Pharmacy, was the first licensed medical marijuana dispensary in the Baton Rouge area. The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy awarded it the sole permit for the capital health region, which covers East Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes, and its original store on Picardy Avenue sits near two hospitals. It is run by founder and chief executive Randy Mire.

Louisiana runs its program through licensed pharmacies, so the store is staffed by pharmacists who help patients choose products and forms such as flower, pre-rolls, vapes, extracts, edibles, tinctures, topical creams and metered-dose inhalers. Sales are limited to patients with a recommendation from a Louisiana clinician, and the website links to telehealth providers and has information for out-of-state patients. Patients can order online and choose store pickup or free delivery; orders placed and paid ahead are usually handed over within minutes. Reviewers often praise the knowledgeable staff and store, while some say prices run higher than in neighboring states and that the selection is narrower than at other Louisiana dispensaries.
