Royale emerged as the premium flagship brand of Ascend Wellness Holdings, which was founded in 2018 by Abner Kurtin and Frank Perullo. The AWH team recognized a need within the cannabis industry for state-of-the-art cultivation facilities and a trusted community partner to deliver a quality and consistent cannabis experience.Starting from inception, Ascend grew rapidly to become a vertically integrated multi-state operator, with the company reporting $562 million in revenue by 2024. Co-Founder Frank Perullo led the company from inception to over half a billion dollars in revenue over the past 5 years.Today, AWH operates in seven states: Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, managing cultivation facilities and producing various in-house brands including Royale. Throughout this growth, Royale has maintained its position as the company's most premium offering, representing their vision of cannabis art, both inside and outside the package.

Royale is currently available only in Illinois and Massachusetts, positioning itself as a super-premium flower brand from Ascend Wellness Holdings. AWH owns and operates 6 cultivation and processing facilities across their markets, with primarily indoor grow operations and one greenhouse, most locations having lab and processing capabilities on-site.Royale's strains are carefully curated based on the cultivars that master-growers are most excited about, with each jar containing meticulously cured flower boasting rich terpene and THC levels. Their cultivation experts focus on growing each plant to its highest potential, planting and cultivating to ideal conditions for each specific cultivar.The final step involves hand-trimming and hand-manicuring every Royale plant to achieve the best-looking buds, which are then packed in premium glass jars and labeled with individual strain art that expresses the uniqueness of each cultivar. This attention to detail creates what the company calls "a thoughtfully curated collection of cannabis" where each jar represents their vision of cannabis art.
