First Medical Marijuana Dispensary to Open in West Palm Beach

RISE Dispensaries, a unit of Green Thumb Industries has said it plans to open two medical marijuana dispensaries in Palm Beach County. Of these two dispensaries, one will be the first dispensary in West Palm Beach. While the locations are still undisclosed, RISE Dispensary officials have said that one will be in downtown West Palm Beach, the other in an area west of Delray Beach. Rise also operates marijuana dispensaries in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Nevada

In June, city commissioners voted unanimously to allow dispensaries and to regulate them similarly to pharmacies, the only difference being that medical marijuana dispensaries cannot operate within 500 feet of a school. Since legalization, four dispensaries have opened in Palm Beach County. As of November 2nd, there were 143,298 Floridians with permission to buy medical marijuana and 1,800 physicians approved to give patients recommendations to purchase.
