How do I get a medical marijuana prescription in North Dakota?

In order to get a prescription for medical marijuana in North Dakota, patients must have one or more of the qualifying conditions, determined by the state.  Qualifying conditions for medical marijuana in North Dakota include but are not limited to, HIV/AIDS, cancer, Chron’s disease, anorexia, anxiety disorder, epilepsy, glaucoma, PTSD, and rheumatoid arthritis. If a patient meets any of the qualifying conditions, the next step would be to speak to your current physician about receiving a recommendation for medical marijuana as a potential treatment option.

How do I get a North Dakota medical marijuana card?

After seeing a certified medical marijuana doctor, and receiving a recommendation for medical marijuana as a treatment option, patients must then register with North Dakota’s medical marijuana program through the state department’s patient registration system. After your registration is approved, patients will be issued a temporary registry identification card, which may be used in conjunction with a government-issued photo identification card/proof of identity until the registration is complete.  Patients are required to provide forms of proof of residency and proof of identity when applying for their medical marijuana card, along with paying a registration fee of $50.

Where can I purchase medical marijuana in North Dakota?

After receiving a recommendation for medical marijuana by a certified physician, submitting your medical marijuana card application, and receiving your medical marijuana card approval, patients can then visit any North Dakota state dispensaries to purchase medical cannabis products. Patients who possess a physician’s recommendation may obtain up to 3 ounces of medical cannabis, purchased from one of the state dispensaries. The maximum concentration amount permitted in a 30-day period is 2,000 milligrams. Home cultivation of medical marijuana by patients in North Dakota is currently prohibited.
